The National Relationship-Centered Care NetworkThe Fetzer
Institute formed the National Relationship-Centered Care Network which
is made up of individuals working in the health professions as
clinicians, educators, administrators, and consultants.
Many
national network members are engaged in collaborative projects focused
on practices, research, and teaching. These projects extend the concept
of relationship-centered care, document its effectiveness, bring it into
medical and health professions education, and engage students,
clinicians, funders and other stakeholders in health care in designing
systems and curricula.
The Network supports and encourages
individuals, allowing them to return to their work with renewed vision,
vigor, strength, and the support of a caring network. This goal is to
encourage individuals who are working within the system to do so with
integrity and become models of relationship in action.

"Health
care is an activity that involves many people-patients, families,
caregivers, organizational managers, community leaders, etc.-within a
complex matrix of personal, professional, and community relationships. .
. . It is…an essentially human activity, undertaken and given meaning by
people in relationships with one another and their communities, both
public and professional." --Health Professions Education
and Relationship-Centered Care: Report of the Pew-Fetzer Task Force on
Advancing Psychosocial Health Education
